The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation announced today that it will begin accepting applications for its first ever scholarship program beginning Friday, Feb. 27. The program includes 33 scholarships totaling $600,000. The Gifted Scholarship Award and the Scholarship Tuition Assistance Award are the first financial assistance initiatives offered in 24 countries to Latin music students. The Gifted Scholarship Award and the Scholarship Tuition Assistance Award will be bestowed to students pursuing a career in Latin music in an effort to foster the next generation of extraordinarily talented musicians, who will continue the legacy of Latin music and its significant contribution to the world’s culture. Offering two types of scholarships, the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation will provide financial assistance to Latin music students in financial need to further enhance their musical skills and continue their studies. The beneficiaries of the scholarships will be selected from a highly competitive international pool of candidates by a committee of music experts. Selected applicants will be awarded with substantial financial help to study at a music institution of their choice and approved by the Foundation. Applicants in the following 24 countries are encouraged to apply: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The two types of scholarships offered are:
The Gifted Scholarship Award provides monetary support to potentially three very talented students with financial strains. An annual tuition stipend will be provided to those pursuing a four year Bachelor Degree at a music institution. The maximum amount for these scholarships is $25,000 (U.S.) a year per student. The Scholarship Tuition Assistance Award will consist of a one-time tuition award at a music institution. Each selected student will receive a maximum of $10,000 (U.S.) and up to 30 students will be awarded this year.

Sponsored by Exxon Mobile, High School Seniors Can Now Apply For The LNESC College Scholarship

Sponsored by the Exxon Mobil Corporation, the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC) will award one (1) national scholarship of $20,000 (paid over four years), and twelve (12) $2,000 local scholarships to qualified Latino high school seniors who plan to pursue a degree in engineering at U. S. post-secondary institutions. Applicants must reside within the following cities or surrounding areas:

Eligibility Requirements

Must be a graduating high school senior
Must be a Hispanic student accepted into and planning to attend a full-time program in engineering leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent.
Must have scored 29 or higher on the ACT test, or 1350 or higher on the SAT test (sum of critical reading and mathematics scores).
Must be a U. S. Citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Apply to the RMHC®/HACER® Scholarship


As part of its mission of providing the highest quality educational opportunities to high-need Latino youth, the LULAC National Educational Service Centers, Inc. (LNESC) is partnering with McDonald’s® to help promote the RMHC®/HACER® Scholarship to qualifying high school seniors across the U.S. 

The RMHC/HACER Scholarship was founded to assist Hispanic high school students pursuing a college education. To date, RMHC has awarded more than $24 million in scholarships to outstanding Hispanic students. 

In 2008, the national scholarship was added, offering four $100,000 awards to Hispanic high school seniors, who are selected based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need and community involvement. 

The RMHC/HACER Scholarship is awarded on a regional and national level, and awards range from $1,000 to $100,000. Applications for the 2015 RMHC/HACER Scholarship will be accepted from October 1, 2014 through January 20, 2015.


General Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a high school senior
  • Be younger than 21 years old
  • Have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino heritage
  • Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college, university or technical school with a full course of study
  • Be a legal U.S. resident
  • Live in a participating RMHC Chapter’s geographic area (for local/regional scholarships)
  • Submit a complete application and all required documentation by January 20, including:
    • Letters of recommendation
    • List of community service projects
    • Academic transcript
    • Personal essay highlighting academic, career, and personal goals
