Master P Lands Family-Themed Reality Show on Reelz Channel

REELZ today announced that, for the first time, music mogul Master P is opening the doors to his family home on the network’s original series, Master P’s Family Empire. Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, is a single father who made it his mission to forge the Miller family empire—but with five kids ranging in age from 9 to 25 it’s not always easy keeping his business interests in order, let alone keeping his kids on track. How will he manage his own projects along with the singing, modeling, acting and sports careers of his children without losing his mind? Master P’s Family Empire will give an inside look at how this single father skillfully juggles his roles as entrepreneur, philanthropist and hip-hop artist with his most important role: being a dad. Master P’s Family Empire is produced by Asylum Entertainment and premieres Saturday, November 28.

“Master P is a true American success story, rising from the most humble of beginnings to the top of the entertainment world completely on his own,” said Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of REELZ. “The Miller family’s infectious chemistry, genuine love for each other and commitment to working hard and following their father’s rules makes them as relatable as they are entertaining.”

A self-made music mogul who grew up in the Calliope projects of New Orleans—once labeled one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the nation—Master P sold more than 75 million records on his way to creating a business empire. After earning his keep through years of hard work he doesn’t intend to simply hand over the keys to the family castle. Master P is a dad on a mission to create generational wealth guided by the personal mantra “I’m your father, not your friend.” His tough love teachings are always rooted in support and instilling success in his children whether he’s producing a new mix tape, giving his daughter dating advice or attending an important parent teacher conference all while producing new recordings and mentoring a new generation of recording artists including his son Romeo.

The Family:

Master P (Percy Miller)
Master P is a self-made hip-hop mogul, entrepreneur, philanthropist and political activist who is balancing his career with being a newly single father. He is a driven businessman who presides over a diversified business empire but most of all he’s a loving father who guides his children to succeed. Master P’s dedication to hard work started early. From his first job as a door-to-door salesman selling television packages for Cox Cable in his hometown of New Orleans, he soon set his sights on a career in music. Drawing upon his sales experience he began a grassroots approach to marketing his music and began selling his records out of the trunk of his car in local neighborhoods, a humble beginning of a recording career that would later land him the number 10 spot on the Forbes list of America’s 40 Highest Paid Entertainers.

At 25 years old Romeo is Master P’s oldest son and the only sibling who spent his early years in the projects of New Orleans. As a child star of his own series he grew accustomed to life in the public eye but he doesn’t let that divert his attention from his career as an actor, rapper and clothing designer. As busy as he is, he always finds time to be an older brother and role model for his siblings.

Veno is a 22-year-old model with a promising future. His bold personality and high energy make him the life of the party and, although his desire for fun sometimes sidetracks his professional focus, with his father’s guidance he always finds his way back on the right track.

Cymphonique may be only 18 years old but with experience as a child actress she already knows the meaning of hard work and dedication. Her maturity keeps her focused on a flourishing acting and singing career and with the support of her father she’ll transform from “daddy’s little girl” to iconic entertainer.

Hercy & Mercy
This dynamic duo is the youngest of the Miller clan. Hercy and Mercy have big NBA dreams which puts them within arm’s reach of a basketball at all times. At 12 and 9 years old there are lots of things to distract them but P is always there to keep them on point.

“We might be announcing our lineup on April Fool’s Day, but we aren’t joking around,” says HUKA Entertainment co-founder A.J. Niland. “The lineup is exceptionally deep and each and every day will be full of surprises and special moments to match the magic of our beautiful Pemberton Valley festival site. It’s always a bit of a battle as a small indie promoter to get the acts you want, but we worked extra hard this year to make sure we’re bringing the best to B.C.”

Pemberton Music Festival is a four-day contemporary music festival in British Columbia’s scenic Pemberton Valley, near the foot of majestic Mt. Currie. Produced and promoted by HUKA Entertainment, in collaboration with the Village of Pemberton and land partners the Sunstone Group, the Lil’wat Nation and Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, the festival turns Pemberton Valley, located less than thirty minutes from Whistler, BC, into a premiere musical playground on par with HUKA’s other award-winning festivals.

The festival provides a blend of on-site camping and off-site hotel lodging options. While camping options will allow attendees to stay directly on festival grounds, those seeking the comforts of a home away from home can secure traditional lodging in nearby Whistler, BC. Non-camping patrons will have access to festival-supplied transportation, including shuttles from Whistler.

Campgrounds for 2015 will be expanded to include property on both sides of the Sea to Sky Highway, which means that campers parked on the south side of the road opposite the festival grounds will have the option to camp there, and will no longer be required to carry their gear across the bridge spanning the road to the festival site. Additionally, paths from other parking lots leading to festival campgrounds will be upgraded to include hard-packed surfaces with minimal obstructions.

Other improvements will include food service and offerings for VIP patrons as well as placement of campground amenities, including showers and water filling stations.

Pemberton Music Festival is proud to welcome its partners Molson Canadian, SiriusXM and Somersby Cider to its 2015 event.

Snoop Dogg Signs to Pharrell’s Label – New Album Will Feature Stevie Wonder

2014-10-17 14.35.36

Honestly, I can care less that Snoop’s made more headlines than music.  And I really don’t care that some of you thought he was a bit to old to be feuding with Iggy Yucky Azalea.  I actually cracked up at those IG videos he made.  Yup, I’m that type of girl – I love me some bad boys.  Most importantly, I still support EVERTHING about Snoop – name changes and all – even though he has yet to respond to my #IWannaBraidSnoopDogsHair Twitter campaign.

So you know that I am completely over the top at the latest news of him signing to my other boo’s label – Mr. Pharrell (make me happy) Williams.  The news broke today while I was driving. Reported by BillboardSnoop’s next album will be released via Pharrell’s i am OTHER label and Columbia Records

So, here I am sitting in a parking lot, writing this.  Why? Because not only is this label signing thing big news but the album will feature Charlie Wilson and Stevie Wonder.  Did you get that people? Charlie Wilson. Stevie Wonder. Exclamation multiplied a million times!

Rolling Stone Films Presents ‘Rick Was Here,’ Dawn of Def Jam

In 1984, Def Jam Records, the label that defined hip-hop’s commercial and artistic potential, was born in a very unlikely location: a tiny New York University dorm room. Founder Rick Rubin — now a record-industry legend who’s shepherded the careers of everyone from Jay Z to the Red Hot Chili Peppers — hadn’t returned to that Greenwich Village double-occupancy room in three decades. But for Rolling Stone Films’ premiere documentary, Rick Was Here, he ventured back to Weinstein Hall, room 712, to remember how it all began. “I can’t believe it’s 30 years,” he says. “It’s really trippy.”

Atlantic Records Signs Janine and the Mixtape!

I just found and wrote about Janine and the Mixtape a couple of weeks ago and now this……
Atlantic Records has announced a joint venture with Little Mixtapes Records and its founder, Janine and The Mixtape, managed by Andy Murnane/Frequency Media Group. “DARK MIND,” the New Zealand-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer’s acclaimed debut EP, will be re-released at all US-based DSP’s on November 4th.
“DARK MIND” is preceded by the new single, “Hold Me (Feat. Pusha T),” which goes on sale tomorrow, October 14th at digital retailers after premiering today exclusively via Complex.  The original track has already proven a breakthrough for Janine, drawing more than 1 million plays on her official SoundCloud.
Now based in Brooklyn, Janine and The Mixtape – known to friends and family as Janine Foster – began performing at open mic nights in her native Auckland when she was but 14 years old. She soon developed her own unique amalgam of pop, indie, R&B, and hip hop, all built around her emotional songcraft, otherworldly vocals, and utterly individualistic persona. Released initially by her own Little Mixtapes Records in 2013, “DARK MIND” immediately shot Janine and The Mixtape into the spotlight – as well as the top 2 on the iTunes Store’s “Top R&B Albums” chart. The EP – which also includes the hit single/video, “Little Bit” (featured on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Hollywood) – received worldwide applause, with high praise coming from such outlets as MTV, BillboardVIBE Vixen,Complex, and VIBE, which ranked Janine and The Mixtape among their “R&B Secret Society: 26 Acts You Should Be Listening To.”

Listen to Prince’s New Albums – Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum

Art Official Age

Tuesday just got a bit funkier with the release of ‘Art Official Age’ and ‘Plectrumelectrum’ , his first full length projecst since his 2010 release of 20Ten.

So I haven’t had the opportunity to dissect each and every song  but upon my first listen, here are my initial thoughts:

Some of the songs, Art Official Cage in particular are somewhat reminiscent of NY City Limelight club days dating back to the mid to late nineties.  It also has a Lady Gaga-ish feel to it.

The beginning instrumentals of The Gold Standard immediately reminded of Parliament’s Give up the Funk for some reason.  I’m sure many will disagree with me but hey, these are my thoughts after all.

The Breakfast Can Wait track is a little bit of sexy mixed with some funk.

I so wanted to listen to the entirety of This Could Be Us but I just couldn’t take it seriously and only those of you that are into social media can understand why.

Let’s see how many of you want to immediately bust out in a pop and lock routine to FunknRoll  (yep, I did that).

And is it just me or are you waiting for Prince to start singing the lyrics to Darling Nikki right at the 13 second mark of Affirmation III?

Synthesized funk with a little bit of sexy, Art Official Age – take a listen for yourself.
