On Sunday, October 8, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, opens The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta, an exhibition celebrating the illustrious life and career of the renowned fashion designer. Ensembles presented across four thematic sections highlight the most significant influences— including Spain, Russia, China, Japan, and the garden—on his designs and are displayed alongside paintings and decorative arts from the MFAH collections. The creations offer a window into de la Renta’s world through a range of looks, from elegant daywear to resplendent gowns, including pieces worn by Penelope Cruz, Karlie Kloss, Kirsten Dunst, and Amal Clooney, whose custom bridal gown of beaded-tulle, silk, and embroidered lace will be on view.
Admission is $25 for adults (19+); $20 for senior adults (65+ with ID), military (with ID), college students (with ID) and youth (13–18); and free for children (12 and younger) and MFAH Members. Additional information can be found at www.mfah.org/oscardelarenta.
Thank you Chanel for giving me reason to be excited about the fashion world this Monday morning!
Directed by Kark Lagerfeld, Chanel’s release of its trailer for the short film Reincarnation accompanied by the song “CC The World” – composed by Pharrell Williams and sung by Cara Delevinge – has taken the social media realm by storm this morning.
The short recounts Coco Chanel’s inspiration for the now iconic Chanel jacket – a moment while vacationing in Austria – the moment upon laying her eyes on the uniform of the elevator operator of the hotel she was staying at.
Reincarnation will accompany the Métiers d’Art collection in Salzburg next week.
Mark your calendar – the full film will debut online on December 1.
Hosted by Pro Golfer Maggie Noel and Trevoir Mays of Houston Style Magazine and CBS Radio, The Project will showcase 8 up and coming designers. The show was designed to create a networking platform amongst these designers, the models and guest, giving them the opportunity to showcase their product amongst several mediums. Invited guest will consist of (but not limited to) business owners, artists, entertainers, designers, elite and trendy socialites and press. Upon RSVP’ing to the event, each guest will be asked to Donate A Meal! in which all proceeds will be used to deliver hot meals to those less fortunate in the downtown Houston area Thanksgiving morning.
From special designer events to surprise marriage proposals, there’s never a dull moment at Robbins Brothers. Instead of keeping these things to themselves, they want to share all the dynamic happenings with you!
It’s true – I am not on the market for an engagement but hey, who says you can’t get married all over again? Especially if I get a cute little box with a BIG shiny something from Robbins Brothers!
Well, with that being said, imagine my reaction when Robbins Brothers asked me if I would write about one of those sparkly somethings for them??!! Of course, ZERO hesitation!
Yes, I am an occassional mall-goer; however, I prefer to spend my dollars at locally owned businesses. After all, it’s these types of shops that you are more than likely to come across ‘one-of-a-kinds’.
I ran across Reserve Supply Company a little over a year and a half ago via Instagram when the owner graciously offered to donate a gift basket to my Lupus Awareness fundraiser event. How awesome is that?
My first visit to the store was to purchase a pair of SB Janoski’s for my son who is a major sneakerhead. (This was before Janoski’s were released in major retail stores- what a shame). Thanks to those Janoski’s and my son, I discovered all the amazine products Reserve Supply has to offer. It has become my #1 favorite store to shop for the guys in my life.
So, if you have a guy in your life that appreciates quality clothing, footwear, and accessories, this store is a must!
